This course explores the multifaceted aspects of a bilingual individual, i. Pragmalinguistics: East European Approaches | Jan Prucha
This course looks at how the languages of the Balkans serve as the foundations for modern ethnic and religious identities, and how linguistic histories and structures have been and continue to be manipulated for social and political purposes. Prereq: Junior standing or higher. GE cross-disciplinary seminar and diversity global studies. Foundational understanding of Russian phonetics, phonology, morphology, and historical linguistics for Russian majors and minors. Taught in English.
Prereq: Russian or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for Introduction to the Slavic language family for non-specialists: main shared features, relationship to other Indo-European languages, development of writing systems, history of standardization, and language and national identity. Prereq: Not open to students with credit for Opportunity for undergraduate majors and minors to do non-thesis research or creative work e. Prereq: Major or minor status in one of department's programs and permission of faculty member supervising the project and Undergraduate Studies Coordinator.

Systematic synchronic description of the structure of Contemporary Standard Russian, focusing on phonetics, phonology, and morphology, and associated theoretical issues.
